Great Expectations

Latest Collage for Collage Play with Crowabout Challenge. I hope you enjoy it!

I'm sorry I haven't been around for the past few days...believe me I would rather have been here with you than hauling and spreading bag after bag after bag of mulch! I'm "bout dead"! I'm stillll not through, but am making alot of progress! Was trying to get done what I could before the rain came today....then that turned into fertilizing all my plants since it was going to's kinda nice to have a day off to catch up on other things!

Some Garden Scenery!

I had such a fun day last Friday. I went to my sister Molly's house. We took a yard tour where I took these pictures. Her Goldmound Spirea was just beginning to open and it was GLOWING! She had vinca growing under it so it really hilighted it. I saw some at Home Depot yesterday, so now I have two! Everyone should have one of these, or two!
I took the birdhouse picture because I have always loved that birdhouse....I would love to learn to do that...where you attach pieces of glass to a pot or whatever you choose to work on. I believe I will be taking that hobby up one of these days. My daughter Kathryn's boyfriends mother (wow) Joan, does it, and she makes some of the most beautiful things.. she also paints and is one artistic and creative woman!! Sooo...anyway, you can see Molly's perennial garden in the background...let me say that it is just cranking up....the roses haven't bloomed and the Earnest Markham clematis that takes over the trellis it is on......but you can surely notice the EUPHORBIA "Wulfendii" looming in the background can't you?? Everyone needs two of these too! I have them at my mailbox and I have had so many people ask me about them. I will show you mine when they are worthy.
We finished the tour of her yard, then walked across the street to her neighbor Linda's for a tour of her yard. Be glad I forgot my camera or you would have been here the entire day....I have never seen so many plants in my life! Bulbs popping up all over the place....she has 4 FAIRY HOUSES!!! I can't even explain it all....I will be going back and I will have my you will need to get some coffee, maybe your breakfast, and lunch and come spend the day with meeee!!!
Then for the hilight of the day....another neighbor was having a 'GOLD" party! You know, where you take any gold scraps ya have and someone is there to asses it all, and give you money for it?! Well... I had a little bag of stuff I have saved over the years...old broken necklaces.....earrings I didn't wear..etc......and I got $382.00!!!! Will come in handy....PLANTS must be bought!

I took this day before yesterday on a little walk over to my neighbors, I knew to take my camera...since it was "sunset" time!! It was so strange, when I watched it go down, you could see a trace above it where it dropped out of the sky! Love it all.... ya'll have a great day today!

Top of the Mornin to Yall!

Happy St. Patricks Day!!! Hope you all have a good one!! I thought I would post a spring flower picture! Oh sweet Helleborus is making it's way into the garden and in a big way. They are popping up daily! I will post another picture later when they get bigger. I am anxious to see this area as time goes on. I planted alot of native stuff that I acquired last summer. I added lots of Mouse-eared Coreopsis, Maidenhair Fern, Wild Geranium, Bloodroot, Hepatica and Foam Flower! Looks like it might be a good day to play in the dirt!! :D
This collage is my latest for the Crowabout Challenge, thanks Nancy for some great images this week!! Let me tell yall where I got the dress! It's is from a photo I took at the Southeastern Flower Show in Atlanta. I was captivated by it. It was an exhibit of a dress made from ornamental cabbage on top and the skirt was made from Belle of Ireland flowers!!!! It was so beautiful and I did not post it in my other pictures from the show in my Flickr, because I knew I would be using it in a collage at some point. I thought it would be appropriate to use it in conjunction with St. Patty's Day! When yall have time, go see it in Molly's Flickr, along with all her other beautiful pictures. You can see it in more detail there.
Yall have a good day!!

The Bold Ones

I was beginning to think I was not going to come up with anything for the Collage Play with Crowabout challenge! After seeing so many clever and charming posts from my collage sistas, I was really at a loss. It finally came together. It was a challenge and that is exactly what I needed! It will be time for some new markers though, some that would even write would be a plus LOL!!

I've gotta tell yall what happened to me the other day when I was going to meet my stepmom Carolyn, for lunch. I pulled out onto the highway and I'm driving along in my own bizare little world......probably thinking about glue, paper, paint, that image I wanted that could not find, beads or plants. I'm minding my own business....and from the corner of my eye, I could see that there was a car next to me......not really moving on and just sort of staying beside me.....I didn't look over there, it was just like I knew they were there....and I didn't think much else about it. Then I hear a horn honking and glanced over and the lady, well, if you could call her that.....was looking at me with this wild expression on her face and she is absoulutely LIVID....and she is shooting me a BIRD!!! The kind of bird you would shoot, where your hand goes up and down while you are doing it kind! I think my jaw just dropped and I had this stunned look on my face, like "what"?? She went ahead and got in the left turning lane, and when I went by her I just smiled and waved!!! LOL..... poor dear......God love her.....bless her heart.......I hope I never see her again, I don't know what she might do next time she sees me, whatever I did, it was pretty BAD!!! Hope you all have a great weekend! x0x0x

A Day in the Yard

It was so beautiful the day before yesterday, I decided to work outside. I still had to plant the flowers Molly gave me and had other things to do. Nearly killed me! I got the hyacynths planted, and some Stargazer Lily bulbs I had bought. Planted a bunch of Iris's my friend Diane brought me at the end of the summer last year! They were in these huge heavy clumps and somehow I got them all planted. I then had to water everything in. The 200ft long hose was already laying up in the higher garden, but before I watered everything I was going to change nozzles. Raymond likes that gold brass kind that you can just turn to adjust the spray? I detest it. If you have it on a mild spray it takes forever to get enough water on anything, and when you turn it up it pulverizes and pressure washes all the plants! I like MY nozzle that has the "shower" feature. So MY nozzle was no where to be found, then I spotted it alright... it was up on the slope in the yard where we have it covered in pine straw. I tried to walk sideways over to it without falling backwards and rolling down the mountain. I started to slip in the pinestraw and had to bend over and crawl like a fiddler crab over to it, then get back up to the top of the drive way. I got it though!!!! So I recovered from that, and changed nozzles, got sprayed a few times in the face and legs with water, but got it on there. Then try to visualize the garden on the other side of the driveway there is a slope maybe 3 ft high and then the garden starts. I was up in the garden with the 200 ft cold, stiff, mangled hose. I decided to pick it up and throw it down below to the driveway, so I didn't have to drag the tangled up piece of crap across all my plants. I got part of it down there and picked up the rest of it and hurled it over and the next thing I know I'm going with it!!!!! For crying out loud! I didn't want to fall onto the gravel driveway, and somehow landed on my feet so hard that it was quite a blow to my poor knees. But then it was like it was with such a force that I couldn't stop, and I was so afraid of falling so here I am running full force downhill trying to stop ROFL!!!!! I finally did get stopped and it seemed like the entire episode lasted 3o minutes. My heart was pounding so hard, and it scared me to death, and I was mad and laughing all at the same time!!!! I am so glad there was no one around to see it all! So after all that and cleaning up and putting away all the tools, I came in and took 2 Motrin right off the bat! I told Molly, who got a huge laugh out of this, that next time I may as well take the asprin before I even head out the door, or either hire that yard boy I've been talking about!! Ya'll have a good night!

Look What I Got!!

I received this beautiful award from my friend Terri Kahrs at Pringle Hill Studios! It was accompanied by the following:

This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award."

I am new to blogging and was very intimidated by it all. After I began to visit blogs from many of the friends I have made on Flickr, I began to see and realize how much they enrich our lives. Friends stop by to say hello, that they like your art, or to check on you when you are having a bad day. I have enjoyed it so much and now wonder why I waited so long! You will want to hop over to Terri's beautiful blog to read her stories and see her beautiful art. There you will also see the amazing murals she paints for people!! Her art is such an inspiration to so many of us and her friendship means so much, thank you again Terri!!

I will be passing on this award to 8 deserving people in the spirit of creativity and friendship!

Have a great day everyone!!

Not Tonight, Not Ever!

Good Morrrning! This collage was inspired by a wooden sign I have that says, It's Not P.M.S. It's Y.O.U. I bought it a few years ago and I still laugh every time I look at it! So many of the images on this collage are from Nancy Baumiller, thanks so much Nancy! Hope you enjoy it! Some of you might even be able to relate to it more than others ;D

My daughter Kathryn, and her boyfriend Alex are coming up for the weekend! Alyssa, will be up sometime tomorrow! Alex is going fishing, yes Kathryn is allowing it!! She and I are going to go on a long walk/hike. It is supposed to be a beautiful day here in Blue Ridge tomorrow! Then tomorrow night we are going to eat to celebrate my husbands birthday that was yesterday. Happy Birthday again sweetie!! I can't wait to see them :D

Got some plants coming to me from my sister Molly! She knew I had been wanting some Purple Shamrock. She has quite a bit of it, and she has it in some of her pots in her yard and it looks so pretty! She found me 3 plants for 10.00! Then!!! She called me later in the day to tell me that she included a little bonus surprise for me! She said she was not going to tell me what it was in one sentence, and in the next sentence she said "do you want me to tell you"? Really, she just couldn't wait to tell me, because it was such a deal! She and her friend Linda,
were at the nursery, and found a sale rack that had flats of Grape Hyacinths on it, and she got me 12 of them for $1.00!!!!! We couldn't believe it! I love it when they go shopping :D

Kitty Update!! She's still with us! I got home with my groceries yesterday, and she came running down to see me, purring her head off and plopping down in the gravel rolling back and forth, getting dirty, but not caring. Sweet girl. I have not been able to find a place to take her. Anyone want a sweet little white kitty???? I will check back later to see!!!

How did it get to be 11:15? Seems like I just went to bed. Guess I better get crackin around here! Hope ya'll have a lovely weekend. x0x

Summer Picnic

The latest Collage Play with Crowabout page. I know, this is very different from most of my collages. Ya'll know that normally I have more images on a page than I usually have room for, that's always my motto... "more is more". But since this turned into an outdoor landscapey scene, that technique would not have worked for this collage. It was sorta funny, I started this background then put it out of sight, painted another one, I kept trying to do some sort of indoor gala scene and was just having a heck of a time. It's also funny how you get this one idea in your head with one of the images and that was the problem. I was trying to use one of them that was of a piano it had sort of a saloonish look to it- great picture, but when I took it away all the other elements worked perfect for the landscape background I had just practically threw away! So, got it back out and pasted the few images in and it came together. Basically, I was thinking wayyyy to hard! It was really very simple allllll along!! Ya'll have a good night! xox

Spring is surely on its way now! Happy March everyone! I had this sun I used in the "March" collage for a while now. I got it from my blog sista and good friend Nancy Baumiller. In real life, it has little sparkles all over it! I decided it needed to be used! I found the quote by Charles Dickens and the collage transpired. Hope you like it!

It is flurry-ing up here on the mountain, but so far that's it! I talked to my daughters this morning and our son in law, and from what we hear, it is snowing like crazy where they are, about an hour and a half from us. We will see what happens! I have mixed emotions about that. I usually welcome a nice snow since we don't get them too often, but in the past few days we have had a little white cat show up to the cabin! I think she has been hanging around the mountain for a couple of weeks now. She has not been taken care of, she has ear mites and probably fleas. She is so sweet and loving! I tried to resist feeding her for a day or so, but she kept hanging around and would not leave. I just couldn't turn my back on her. Sooooo...I fed her. She acted like she had never eaten. We can't bring her in since we have Pearl and Little One. We found a box that we turned over and layed on it's side and put some towels in it and then put some over the top of the box to insulate it more from the wind. She thinks she is sleeping in the Taj Mahal now! She loves her new little home, but I know it's still freezing out there. I talked to a girl at the feed/pet store that gave me some numbers of places to call tomorrow, from what she said they will take her and give her shots and treat her ears etc. and make her available for adoption. So I will call them tomorrow. Even though I have only had her for a couple of days I can see that it will be hard on me to even do that!!! I know though, that is best for her. Wish me luck!! Hope everyone has had a good, warm, relaxing, artful, creative weekend! See yall soon!
