Semi-Productive Day...

Not feeling my best today, I have Diverticulitis, and I have had a flare up. Now I seem to be catching my husbands cold. Got some meds and should be back to normal soon. I have been bothered by allll the unorganization of my workspace downstairs for sometime now. Like every time I go down there to work. I have papers laying around everywhere, markers, little snippets of this and that. Hardly any room to work! It was driving me INSANE. Sometimes when you are collaging, you need a face, or a hat, or a border. I make lots of copies of images and many times there is a variety of things on the sheet. So I will be working and need something and that something is in like 10 different areas or piles. So since I was laying low today I went down and got the piles and brought them upstairs and sat on the couch and organized everything. I got separate files and labeled them like borders, faces, clothes, etc. I cut up pages that had everything on there and put it in the files they belonged in. Still got along way to go, I have a huge box of more prints, etc. But, at least when I am looking for a specific thing I can find it quickly!

I find a lot of things from magazines like I have talked about before. I clip out the things I like and MOST times, not every time, I will copy the images. I do this because I don't really love the shiny texture they have in the magazines, and if I decide to write over them or alter them, the ink will take better to the copy paper. I made a separate folder to keep the clippings in so that if I want to make copies and use them again I can. It's amazing the patterns and objects you can find to use. They may even be kinda blah and boring, but you can doodle on them and make them your own. I continued to cut out letters for my letter box and made up another folder for "words". So, that's what I've been doing today! Hope that you all have a great evening, whatever you are doing!

Organization is a good thing (very good). Diverticulitis is not. Brock Lesnar has it and it almost prevented him from continuing in the UFC (I know, you don't know what that is).

Fyi-I realize that you don't read my Blog much anymore.....but the title of my Blog has changed...

Get better and eat right!

Hope you feel better soon. I've been feeling yucky myself and then today I realized that I've lost my car keys (we've been using the hubby's set) somewhere in the house. I'm a bit down about not even knowing they were missing. Anyway, I'm the exact opposite about the magazine papers, when I have to use papers that don't have a sheen, I coat them with gloss medium. My pens don't work well at all on uncoated paper. Since I'm so new to collage, I've just begun organizing. So far, I'm using the Human/Animal/Color system. I'm sure it will get much more complex as I go on. Sorry to ramble. Take care and get better!

Blase, you mean Brock Lesnar the Heavyweight champ? Okay soooo....I looked it up.......you knew I would! Wow, what a story his is, I can't believe he waited that long to get a CT scan to find the source of the pain! Although, if I had realized how bad that stuff you have to drink before you have the CT was, I might have changed my mind! I can't even begin to tell you how vile it was... I thought the pain was in my ovary. I went to the emergency room. They did xrays, and said nothing looked suspicious, I said "Well, did you get the ovary in the xrays"? "No, we didn't xray the ovary"......well, that is "where the pain IS" he went on to ask if I would like to "follow up" with my doctor an hr and half away...um "NO" what I would really love is to find out what it is now! So, they did a scan and told me I had Diverticulitis. Antibiotics took care of it. I can not imagine having it to the degree Brock did, he is one lucky man to be alive. My Dad had it several years ago. He had no pain, but was losing blood. He had to have surgery, and is doing well. I have had several flare ups since, but not to the degree the first one was. I no longer eat nuts....I miss nuts..I miss them alot. I don't eat popcorn, or anything like strawberries, with hard seeds in them, and I de-seed my tomatoes....I even take a fiber pill once a day....so, I'm tryin!!! My gastro doctor says if I keep having issues he will want to do another CT scan!!! He will have to do it without me drinking..never mind.

Sorry I haven't been a very good follower lately, but at least now I know who Brock Lesnar is!!

Susan....Thank you!! I hope that you feel better too and that you find your keys! That has got to be one of the most frustrating things isn't it? Well, at least you know they are at home instead of somewhere else. At least there is hope. I was shopping at a mall onetime, and guess I layed them down somewhere....that was fun...then trying to remember everywhere I had been and every store I had been to...never did find them! Don't even remember how I got home!

Glad you are enjoying collaging and keeping stuff organized. It doesn't take long to collect alot of papers and images. I'm going to keep working at it, and then reorganize my entire desk. I never could understand anyone saying "I'm bored" wahhhh.....isn't there always something to do??? Why sure there is!!
Feel better, and have a good weekend!

Oh, organizing can be such fun! Never a dull moment in this house... you're right, how can anyone be "bored"??? But I must say - when I start organizing the way you describe, I get sooooo inspired I have trouble finishing the organizing (seeing all those images and borders etc. makes me wanna play immediately!) Hope you're feeling better, have a nice weekend!

So sorry to hear that you've been feeling under the weather, Shelly. But instead of being a lady of leisure, here you are organizing the heck out of your stuff! Are you for hire??? Nancy's class did me in! I've got piles of "stuff" and little pieces stacked in pie plates! Hope you're feeling better s-o-o-n! Hugs, Terri xoxo

I"ve had IBS most of my life. Had several severe episodes that caused me to go to the emergency room one time. I've discovered a natural pill (pepperment gel that disolves in your colon, bypasses your stomach and open up the colon preventing the twisting with IBS..it has saved my life). IBS can turn into diverticulitis over the years.

Me and SB took our cat that I tamed from the woods from our last home to this one. The next day I coached her to come outside thinking she would get familar with the new place and be an outside cat like she was before we moved. She wandered around the little creek behind our townhouse I'm sure thinking it was the same creek from our previous home that was 20 miles away. She never returned...

Marit, thank you! I know exactly what you mean about getting inspired while organizing everything! I found myself wanting to do the same thing! Hope you have a nice weekend too!!

Terri, thank you! I know, I don't know what I would do without all the awesome images we have gotten from Nancy, but I'm gonna figure it out! That way, I can have more fun with them! Have a good weekend!

Blase, where ya get that little Peppermint pill at? So glad that it has helped you! IBS is not any funner than diverticulitis!

It is almost impossible to keep a cat inside that has been outside before. You can but it will drive you insane. When I was little, we had an old Tom cat. We called him the Viking, he was a warrior. He would get into some battles, he came home one day and his tail was hanging by a thread. He just sort of took up with us, he refused to even come inside! We moved about two miles away and took him to the new house. We noticed he was gone and drove back by the old house and there he was...laying there like a millionaire! So, we took him back....he went missing again and sure enough he was back at the old house. I guess he ended up living there for the rest of his days. You know this has me wondering if your cat went back to the condo!!!

Shelly, I am SO sorry you're not well. But trust you, with your inately sunny disposition, not to let your illness get the better of you. You just go ahead and show all those clippings who's boss! I hope you're back on your game soon.

Kathy
